Samoan language week

Samoan language week - Vaiaso Le o Gagana

Last week was Samoan language week. Room 7 celebrated it by getting our experts in Room 7 to help teach us about the Samoan culture and its beautiful language. We learnt about Siapo and created a Room 7 tapa. It was a lot of fun scrunching up our paper to create the effect of the Siapo. We learnt to greet and farewell people as well as thank them. We had a healthy cooking experience where we made panikeke (we didn't deep fry them but used a donut maker instead) our poem of the week was moe moe Pepe which our girls recorded for us. Finally on Friday we dressed to impress in our cultural clothes. What a great week!
Here are some pictures of our fun week and some helpful resources

Thank you Mainfreight 😊

Today Mainfreight delivered the most delicious apples to our school. Enough for every kid and even some for the teachers. Room 7 delivered to classes before school and there were lots of crunching happy kids at morning tea.

Thank you Mainfreight- the apples were delicious!

Fruit in schools

Every Monday and Wednesday Room 7 work very hard to sort and deliver the fruit to every class in the school. It is a big job but we love the responsibility. The children have to collect all the fruit buckets, collect the fruit in its boxes at the front of the school. It is very heavy! Lucky we are strong! Once we get the boxes to Room 7 we count out the fruit (on Mondays it means over 60 pieces per class) then we deliver it with cheerful smiles to the classes. Finally our last job is to flatten the boxes and drop off at recycling bin by Wayne's shed. All this before 9am!!!!

Room 7 children are awesome!
