Recycle! Reduce! Reuse!

This term our whole school is learning about protecting our environment. We are learning about recycling and how this can help if we do it right. Yesterday Room 7 went to visit the Visy Recycling centre in Onehunga. This company take all of the recycling waste from our curb side and recycles it at their plant.
Room 7 were split into 2 groups for this trip. Half of them went with Room 20 and Mrs Thomas and Half went with Room 21, Mr Martin and Mrs Fulford. We arrived at the plant and were greeted by Greer. She took us to a special room where we learnt about what we can recycle.

A interesting fact ... all your recycling must be clean otherwise it goes to the tip!

 

 

                                     

Greer got us dressed up in the safety gear and we went for a walk to the MRF which is a huge ramp which was full of recycling rubbish like milk bottles, cans, paper and glass. We looked at the bales which was the finished product of the recycling process. Then we went back inside for more learning. It was a great day!
