10 word challenge

This week our writing was the 10 word challenge. We had a picture on the smartboard to motivate us and 10 words we had to use in our writing. The words were...

  • screamed
  • moss covered
  • monster
  • enormous
  • towering
  • sword
  • forest
  • spooky
  • mysterious
  • crouching
Here are some examples of our stories...

The night was almost completely dark. My only source of light was the moon and stars which reminded me of voodoo rituals. The grass was full of grey mysterious fog that reached up to my knees. I was crouched at the edge of an enormous forest full of towering moss-covered trees that formed a spooky maze. A scream came of out of the forest which alarmed me because it was a very familiar scream. I bolted into the forest with no defense except for my bare hands. The thing was that it got completely dark because the trees were covering the sky. Suddenly I saw a tremendous black figure. Just then a beam of light appeared on the black figure and it ended up been an enormously fat monster with red eyes that seemed like they were popping out of it face. It was a transparent ghost. Cherry red blood was smeared all around its body. The scream had come from my school friend named Lola who was standing beside the monster. The light I could see came from her flashlight. The monster glowed in the darkness. I felt frightened. I looked at the beast with horror but then suddenly Lola shone the light again. Surprisingly I realised that the ghastly beast had one weakness. It was ...LIGHT!
I scanned my surroundings for something to reflect the light on. "LOLA, save the batteries!" I shouted, my voice echoing from one side of the forest to the other. Unexpectedly I saw a diamond sword stabbed into the grass. I darted to go and get it but just as I grabbed it the giant murderous beast grabbed me. He tried to suck my soul out. At that moment I remembered that my parents were aliens and that made me immortal! I yelled at the top of my voice "YIPPEE!" I was kicking, punching, pinching and biting the beast and eventually he dropped me. All at once I figured that it was midnight. I saw Lola sleeping by an old tree. I felt very annoyed by that because I was more tired. I waited and waited patiently till the ghost was sleeping too then headed to the sword. I slayed the giant monster. I felt extremely lucky to have escaped from this terrible beast!
