Trip to Stardome

On Tuesday Room 24 went on a trip to Stardome to learn about our solar system. We had so much fun and learnt so much!

When we first arrived at stardome we jumped off the bus and went inside Stardome. John greeted us and took us into the special classroom where we learnt about the sun, our planets in our solar system and other space bodies such as comets and asteroids.

Did you know...

The sun is a star!

There are 3 types of planets in our solar system
  • rocky planets like Earth, Mars, Venus and Mercury
  • gas giants like Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune                                               -
  • dwarf planets  like pluto, Ceres and Eris
After our classroom session we walked around in the foyer and looked at all the exhibitions out there. Here are some photos.

After a good look around we went into the Observatory to learn more about our solar system. We sat in comfortable chairs like at a movie theatre but the movie was on the ceiling.  The lights went down and we were looking at the night sky. We learnt about different constellations and how to find different planets in the night sky. Here are some photos before the lights went down.

After our Stardome session finished we went outside for lunch and a play at Cromwell Park. Here are some photos and videos.

We had a great day!
