This week during community swimming lessons it was water safety
week. It is a favourite time with the children because we get to use the life jackets. This was the first time Room 24 had experienced water safety week and they loved it!
Pindrop
– This is important when we are getting safely into the water from a large
height. The children needed to cross arm over their body and hold their nose
with their other hand. Here is what we learnt.
Backdrop
– We use this technique when we are dropping into shallow water. Again we
crossed our arm over our body and held our nose but this time we were seated,
facing backwards.
Huddle
– We use this when we are in the water waiting for help. There are three
important reasons for the huddle. Warmth, safety and staying together.
