Terrific Tuesday!

Tuesdays are awesome! Definitely our favourite day of the week. Today we had lots of great exploring and play. Thanks to Miss Nair we had about 20 boxes from the fruit on Monday. When they arrived in our class on Monday we discussed the different ideas of what to do with those cool boxes. We came up with some great ideas.

Here are some of our learning stories and new language.

Construct – Today the boxes were very popular. We constructed houses, cars, laptops, chairs, a race field for cars and even a puppet show! Mrs Fulford noticed how focused the children were and the great problem solving skills they were showing.

Dayton created a puppet show with old boxes and cardboard. He spent our whole session constructing the theatre. He then entertained several of the children and Mrs Fulford with a show.

Leeroy made a chair. He had to work out how he was going to do it and then problem solved when the chair was too short and the cardboard was too thick. It looked great when he finished.

Learning stories

Today Mrs Fulford introduced new equipment to the mud kitchen. We had pots, pans, kitchen utensils and some buckets. What fun the children had! Mrs Movley was walking past and was offered muffins (although she needed to wait because they were still in the oven). The play in the sandpit went from families (mums, sisters and cousins) to neighbours at war over who had the tidiest kitchen. The mud kitchens were very clean by the end of the session. Mrs Fulford laughed when she saw Shanayah mixing her muffins. Apparently the mixture was to thick and needed more liquid and lots of mixing.

Syriah, Mele, Hayleigh and Mercy enjoyed the craft table today and spent alot of time creating cards and letters for their families or Mrs Fulford. It is hard to see but Hayleigh's card says "I love you my mum!"

After the boat making inspiration from last week, some of the children decided to continue testing the best shape for floating. Lila and Charlie had fun testing their creations. Tekau made a great looking sail boat.

Mele played on the playground today with some of the other girls. They made a house and had a pretend computer and nice looking lounge room.

Other adventures from today...
